Jenny Brosinski DE, b. 1984
Jenny Brosinski, 's minimalistic paintings bridges the realms of abstract and figurative art and reflect an artistic language reminiscent of her reductive approach. Jenny purposefully constrains her creative gestures on the canvas. Although they appear to be improvised, they are distinguished by their spontaneous aesthetic. It unfolds a vibrant interplay characterized by color, dynamic brushstrokes, bold lettering, whimsical scribbles, gentle folds, intricate lines, and faint footprints. Its coalesce into statements that transcends the clarity of her visual language. Its intriguing concreteness, references to its own existence with unwavering honesty.
Brosinski navigates the contemplative spaces within her work, deliberately leaving the center of the canvas empty, using her marks as frames or marginal notes, accentuating her intentional choices and adding a compelling visual dynamic. Its unsettling allegory suggests a clever, effective, and dynamic juxtaposition on the canvas, emphasizing the artist's preoccupation with materiality, unrefined arrangements, and simplified shapes.
Brosinski creates a painting, only to subsequently wrestle with the intricacies of transformation. Her marks do not assault the canvas; instead, they serve as guides, harmoniously interacting with its encompassing quality. It's not a confrontation but a collaboration, as Brosinski neatly sidesteps the conventional approach. By her carefully placed weaves intentionally revealing traces of their utilization, thereby bringing the nature of their materiality to the forefront, as stated by the artist herself.
Jenny Brosinski lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She has received both her bachelor and masters degrees from Weissensee Academy of Art Berlin. Her paintings have been exhibited in many countries around the world, including UK, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Australia and USA.
