Mike Bouchet US, b. 1970
Biography
The artist has spent his career examining consumer culture and its limitless products. Bouchet explores his own emotional response to the quotidian marketing blitz. In 2004 Bouchet invented the formula of Cola Lite (which is essentially Coca-Cola with no sweetener), envisioning the dark substance as the equivalent of America’s oil export, a counter to foreign oil. Discovering it worked as paint, he began using it to create watery, caramelcolored compositions. Later, he started filling different vessels and spaces with the liquid or hard form of Cola Lite – creating unique installations.
